HONORABLE R. WILLIAM SCHOETTLER (Judge Bill), Los Angeles County Superior Court, (Retired). I was born and raised in Los Angeles, attended school here and since graduating from Southwestern University in 1964, have practiced law in one form or another. I was appointed to the Superior Court Bench by Governor Deukmajian in 1988 and since then I have heard more than 12,000 cases as a Judge, Mediator and Arbitrator. I have also received a Masters in Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica and have worked as a counseling therapist since 2005. In short, I have made alternative dispute resolution (ADR) the central focus of this stage of my working life.
